TKD...Hmmmm

"Stay with it--that's what is required. Stay with it to the end. You won't be sorry, you'll be saved" Mark 13.13--The Message-Remix

My reasons for not staying in the RACE are many.

1. What if I fail?
2. I'm too tired.
3. You are in my way.
4. It is so hard.
5. My body hurts.
6. I’m embarrassed.
7. I’m scared.
8. Blah, Blah, Blah…

All of these "reasons" have been valid to me at the time; none of them hold water when put to the test of Mark 13.13.

Today's challenge:
Try something new. For me it is: Tae Kwon Do.

Obstacles to overcome:
I worked all day and I am TIRED. I am intimidated by this sport. I feel self conscious about doing this in front of mostly men. I’m afraid I won’t be able to remember the forms. I’m embarrassed because I’m so fat. Have you seen the uniforms they wear? My body hurts from yesterday. I’m scared. Sound familiar?

Stay with it--that's what is required. Stay with it to the end. You won't be sorry, you'll be saved!

Here is the beauty of this. If I don’t like it, that’s okay. At least I can say I tried it. If I feel great at the end of the work out, or I feel like a dunce it doesn’t matter. I will have succeeded in being a part of the RACE… Living my life in the moment, aware of my body, my mind and my spirit.

God Bless!

One day down...

Last night after crying my eyes out for what seemed like hours, I decided I'd had enough.  It was time to join the RACE!  What is the RACE to me? Living my life in the moment, aware of my body, my mind and my spirit.  I am so out of touch with all three, that I'm of little use to the people around me.

So I did what I know what works for me.
1.  Made some Goals
2.  Made some Plans
3.  Started to execute the plan.

Here are my two Goals:
1.  Get to know God
2.  Run a mile, run a 5K, run a 10K, run a mini-marathon, runa a marathon

Here is my plan:
Getting to know God
1. Pray at least one time a day
2. Dedicate at least 10 minutes a day as devotional time (intentionally listening for God’s still, small voice)
3. Read the Bible for at least 15 minutes each day
4. Fast from Computer Games
5. Attend Worship service for 4 Sunday’s in a row
6. Attend Sunday School for 4 Sunday’s in a row
7. Find an online Bible Study to participate in until the Women’s Bible Study at my church begins
8. Go to a Christian retreat for your birthday, and leave the phone behind

Run a mile
Week one and two: Walk for 6 minutes, then jog at an easy pace for 1 minute. Repeat 3 times. Aim for three sessions with that same sequence for the first two weeks.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday Walk/Run
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday TKD

Week three/four: Walk for 5 minutes, then jog for 2 minutes. Repeat 3 times. Aim to do three sessions in per week.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday Walk/Run
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday TKD
More to come on this...

Goals and plans are great, but when they lack execution, they never lift off the ground.  They are a flightless bird, trapped by negative thoughts.  They become a painful reason to loath oneself.

Thus...
Execution Day One, Week One:
1.  Found a great daily devotional website (http://www.proverbs31.org/)
2.  Today was a hot day in Kansas, but I did it anyway. Walk/Ran my time today.  Stretched and I feel GREAT!

Join me in the RACE, and we'll all meet soon at the starting line.  We don't have to finish together, because the outcome of the race isn't the prize.  The prize is the RACE!

Good bless!
